Road Trip - October 2013! Fall Colors in PA and OH

In early October of last year (2013), we embarked on a little road trip over to Ohio. As readers of this blog may remember, the Rombolas like to listen to books on tape while they drive. We enjoyed the beautiful fall colors while passing along the PA Turnpike before heading north into Ohio, ending up in Mentor, OH, near the shores of Lake Erie, just outside of Cleveland. Our trip took us pretty much the entire day, with a brief stop on the Turnpike for lunch and a little stop in Ohio at Cracker Barrel for dinner. A few hijinks may have ensued, but no shenanigans. I promise!

 When we got to our hotel, we found that we were upgraded to the amazingly huge honeymoon suite!  Especially amazing considering we were using Rewards points and would end up paying nothing for our stay. Two tired, but very happy, people headed up to the room to check it out. BEHOLD!!!

And... yes. This was one complete suite!

About this time in our night, the fire alarms started going off in our room. There was no fire. No fire in the fireplace or anywhere else. We went downstairs to tell the front desk and unpacked all our stuff. By the time we got back up to our suite, the alarm was still going off. Hmm... Maintenance eventually came and figured out that as the FIREPLACE had not yet been used that year, it had sent out some fumes that had set off the fire alarm. Hmmm... well, after that we settled down pretty well and really enjoyed the space and luxurious surroundings. We really enjoyed that room, but in the long run I think it may have been TOO big!  But we are not one to look a gift horse in the mouth. This was a very fun stay because of the surprise factor. We were now ready to enjoy all that the area had to offer!
