A Porch! A Porch! My Kingdom for a Porch!

Do you happen to remember our GIGANTIC yard sale last year? Check out THIS post to refresh your memory. Well, most of what didn't sell ended up on our porch for the entire winter. Needless to say, the porch wasn't too enjoyable with all of that there, but we just couldn't bring ourselves to haul it all back downstairs and it took a while to figure out what to do with it all.

So, my darling hubby got it in gear this Spring and cleaned the entire porch from sawing and chopping up a huge credenza and recycling hundreds of hours of TV recorded on VHS tapes, to power washing all the grime away. Then we lucked out with a seriously great price on a cute furniture set at Aldi. A similar set cost over $200 more at Home Depot. We got to Aldi at 8:45 AM the morning they were offering these (they open at 9:00), and we got the first one. They were sold out by 9:15 AM.

My mom pitched in and helped us out with the price as an early birthday present. After a bit of manhandling, Tony managed to wrangle all of the pieces together into a beautiful porch setting for us.

BEHOLD.....!

We have been loving our recaptured living space! I found a firepot set at Sam's Club and that helps set the mood and keep the buggies away when we sit out there of an evening holding hands. We have a ways to go with the porch, but this is a huge improvement from what we've been used to. Thanks so much, Tony, for all your effort making our porch beautiful again, and thanks to Mom for the birthday present! You should all consider yourselves invited to sit on our porch and watch the world go by.

  1. That looks amazing! You have the perfect neighborhood for actually enjoying that space, too. All that was missing in that picture was you sitting there with a nice pitcher of lemonade and a good book.

  2. Power to the porch people! We don't have much of a porch, but we do have a patio. It is in continuous flux between full of junk and someplace you could invite people over to enjoy a dinner. I like your Aldi furniture. Seeing it set up I'm kind of wishing we'd purchased some.

  3. Yes, if you are diligent you can get some steals at Aldi. We were lucky this summer.
